The value of a patent, a brand or a data asset is rarely a single number. It depends on the purpose of the valuation, the evidence available and who will test it. A project is no different: whether it is feasible depends on assumptions that an investor, a lender and a government will each question.

VA Partners values intellectual property and other assets for transactions, disputes, financing and regulators, where a court, a tribunal or a lender will scrutinize the result. We apply income, market and cost approaches, including relief from royalty, excess earnings and comparable licenses. For projects, we assess demand, costs, financing and economic return, for investors deciding whether to commit and for governments deciding whether to approve or support.

Our team works alongside IP law firms, and brings econometric and data science methods to the valuation of technology and data assets. We have presented on IP valuation and IP-backed financing at the WIPO–Thailand Innovation Policy Forum.

A Partners conducted the field study phase of Thailand’s ASEAN Peer Review as External Consultants appointed by the ASEAN Secretariat, under the ASEAN Competition Action Plan (ACAP) 2025, supporting the Trade Competition Commission of Thailand (TCCT) in assessing its competition policy advocacy practices. As part of the peer review process, our team engages with multiple stakeholders through interviews and assessments, and on this occasion, we carried out the exercise in collaboration with the commissioners of the TCCT. The voluntary peer review aims to strengthen Thailand’s competition regime and advance regional harmonisation.
