When a government allocates spectrum, power capacity or a concession, the rules of the allocation decide who wins, what the state receives and how the market performs for years afterwards. For bidders, the same rules decide what to bid and when to stop. VA Partners works on both sides of that problem.
For regulators and ministries, we design auction formats, reserve prices, eligibility rules and spectrum caps, and the legal rules that make the outcome enforceable. For bidders, we build valuation models, simulate rivals' behaviour and develop bidding strategies for single-band and multiband auctions. We apply the same methods to electricity markets, renewable capacity allocation and infrastructure concessions.
Our partners have advised governments and bidders on spectrum and other auctions in more than ten countries, and combine game theory and econometrics with practical knowledge of how auctions are run.
